Our Library is pleased to announce the successful completion of a significant material donation. We have delivered 488 Chinese language books to the No. 2 Middle School of Yinhe Town, located in Luxi County, Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province.
This donation represents an estimated value of approximately 17,500 RMB (if purchased new). By repurposing these resources, the Library ensures that these materials continue to foster a love for reading and support educational development in regions where they are most needed.
协和古北图书馆欣喜地宣布，一项意义非凡的图书捐赠活动已圆满完成。我们向位于江西省萍乡市芦溪县银河镇的银河镇第二中学共计捐赠了488册中文图书。
此次捐赠图书的预估总价值约17,500元人民币（按新书购入价计算）。通过对这些资源的再利用，图书馆确保这些书籍能够继续传递阅读热爱，为最需要支持的地区助力教育发展。
The Recipient: Yinhe Town No. 2 Middle School
受赠学校：银河镇第二中学
Founded in 1928, Yinhe Town No. 2 Middle School is a nine-year consistent school (covering primary and junior high education) in Longxi Village. Currently, the school has:
- 572 students enrolled in 17 classes.
- A staff of 54 teachers.
- A student population where over 60% are “left-behind children” whose parents work away from home.
银河镇第二中学位于龙溪村，始建于1928年，是一所涵盖小学至初中教育的九年一贯制学校。目前，该校拥有：
– 17个班级，在校生572人
– 教职工共54人
– 超过60%为父母外出务工的“留守儿童”
According to the school’s introduction, their current book collection was insufficient to meet the students’ reading needs due to limited funding. To address this, the school has established an Open Reading Area at the corner of the first floor of the teaching building. Our donated books have been placed there to allow all students to borrow and read freely during their breaks.
据校方介绍，由于经费有限，该校现有藏书量已无法满足学生的阅读需求。为改善这一情况，学校在教学楼一楼角落设立了开放阅读区，我们捐赠的图书已陈列于此，供全体学生在课间自由借阅、阅读。
“This is a great example of how our Library resources can continue to have an impact beyond our own community,” noted our Librarian, Rafael Montesinos. “The process requires meticulous work, checking materials one by one, managing logistics, and coordinating with partners. Thanks to everyone involved, especially to Mr. Yu and Ms. Huang because they made this possible.”

The success of this project was the result of a coordinated process involving the selection, re-checking, and logistics of nearly 500 volumes. We would like to extend our gratitude to The Library Project for facilitating the contact with the school in Jiangxi.
This initiative serves as a practical example of how the SUIS Gubei community can support rural education and broaden the horizons of students across China. Through this collaboration, we ensure that our resources continue to provide value to young readers.
