In the collage of colors, memories, and images we call life, recording memorable moments has become second nature. Photography is a prime example of capturing moments, regardless of their significance, for them to be remembered. As students, one of the most important aspects of our lives is our academics, which inspired us media prefects to create this exhibition. This is the second photography exhibition held in SUIS Gubei, with its inception on Dec. 14th. For those unaware of this tradition of SUIS Gubei, every year the media prefects would host a photography exhibition with a different theme. This requires students from all grades to display their expertise in operating a camera. The theme of this exhibition is “Knowledge Kaleidoscope”, one of the most well-known metaphors for the process of learning is looking through a kaleidoscope: The varied skills we acquire from our classes, akin to the colors in a kaleidoscope, help us see the world in a brand-new light. The exhibition served as both a platform for students to showcase their photography skills and an opportunity to appreciate the diverse knowledge acquired at SUIS Gubei, and to strengthen their understanding of said knowledge through their camera lens. To ensure that the ladder half of our goal would be met, the students had to write a statement to connect their photos to a subject of their choice.
在人生的五彩斑斓中，我们时刻记录着那些难以忘怀的瞬间，这已成为我们的日常习惯。摄影作为捕捉这些瞬息万变时刻的有效手段，无论其重要性大小，都能在我们的记忆中留下深刻的印记。身为学生，学业无疑是我们生活中的重要组成部分，这激发了我们学生会媒体干事的灵感，决定举办此次摄影展。
摄影展于12月14日拉开帷幕，这也是由学生会组织的第二次在协和古北举办摄影展。对于许多不熟悉这一传统的人来说，每年的学生会媒体干事组织的摄影展可能是一个令人感到新奇而有趣的活动。今年的摄影展同样也不例外，由Kimmy Du、Yoyo Li、Austin Li等媒体干事共同策划和组织，得到了学生会其他干事的全力支持和协助。我们从选择主题、征集作品、筛选优秀作品、布置展览等，每一个环节都需要精心策划和组织。
本次摄影展的主题为“知识万花筒”。在我们的学习过程中，常通过万花筒这一隐喻来观察和理解：在课堂上获得的各种技能，如同万花筒中的多彩色彩，为我们提供了一个全新的视角来审视世界。此次展览不仅为协和古北的学生们提供了一个展示摄影技能的舞台，同时也为欣赏在协和古北获得的多元化知识提供了机会，并通过他们的镜头深化对这些知识的领悟。每位创作者都需要撰写一份作品说明，将他们的照片与所选主题紧密相连，展现自己作品的同时，也分享对生活的不同见解。
The exhibition was warmly welcomed by students and teachers (s) alike, and the number of submissions was double the projected amount. The Ninth Graders provided the school with stunning pieces of work with insightful analyses. Providing deep commentary that connected detailed visuals with the diversity and complexity of knowledge, to relate breathtaking pictures of clouds to chemistry concepts.
本次展览备受学生与教师的热烈追捧，所提交的作品数量更是达到了预期的两倍之多。
九年级的学生们为学校带来了令人赞叹的作品以及深入透彻的分析。他们所提供的精彩评论，不仅将细致入微的视觉效果与知识的广泛性与深奥性紧密相连，还将令人叹为观止的云图片与化学概念巧妙结合，充分展示了他们的才华与创造力。

Alex Zhu from 9UY not only displayed his immaculate camera work with this picture, but also presented his chemistry knowledge by relating cloud formations to vapor condensation.

Ms. Li submitted her photos to the Photography Exhibition, picturing the beauty of nostalgia and its perseverance in the beauty of nostalgia. This is then further linked to the overarching themes of the significance of memory and the relationship between humans and the environment seen in the dystopian novel, The Memory Police.
李老师提交的摄影展作品，深入展现了怀旧之美的独特韵味，并彰显了她对于此美感的执着追求。这种追求，与反乌托邦小说《记忆警察》中所探讨的记忆之重要性以及人类与环境之间的微妙关系，形成了深刻的共鸣。通过她的作品，我们得以在怀旧之美的探索中，重新审视和思考这些重要的主题。
The photography collections explored a wide range of subjects from mathematics and the Sciences, to Chinese and English literature. After a rigorous voting procedure that lasted for a week, the top 3 entries were chosen. Congratulations to the winners, and for those who got left out, we highly anticipate your participation and output in next year’s photography exhibition!
